Eng “In these two commercials, a father remotely switches off the family television and turns off the video game of his son... in order to save money and avoid extra energy costs. Both films were shown on television in the same country!”

Fr « Dans ces deux spots de pub, un père contrôle à distance l'allumage de la télévision familiale et éteint le jeu vidéo de son fils pour économiser de l'argent sur sa facture d'électricité. Deux films sortis en France à quelques années d'intervalle. »

Eng “The costume changes but the script is identical. 1 - There is a fight 2 - The main character eat / drink the product 3 - The fight changes to a friendly encounter and they dance together in perfect hamony. Both came out in France. I don't think this battle will end up in court, but it deserved to be showcased here.”

Fr « Encore une belle similarité que je me devais de démasquer! Le script est quasi identique : 1 - on assiste à un combat sans merci 2 - le héros déguste le produit (les yeux fermés!) 3 - Le héros devient gentil, et le combat se transforme en chorégraphie pleine de complicité. Le plus bizarre étant que les deux soient sortis en France à quelques années d'intervalle. En espérant que ça soit le dernier round et que le combat ne se finisse pas entre avocats. »

Eng “The creative idea : There is a car fire on the side of a highway. A man asks for some help. When a nice person finally stops he realises that the smoke comes from a BBQ. I hope a good samaritan will quickly tell David agency in Miami that they would do a better job by not stealing other agencies ideas!”

Fr « L'idée de cette caméra cachée? Faire croire à un moteur en feu, et attendre qu'un bon samaritain vienne donner un coup de main. Il se rend compte alors qu'il n'y a pas d'incendie mais que le capot fumant masque un barbecue en pleine action. L'agence David Miami a sans doute voulu réaliser un coup fumant avec ce stunt, mais au final ils n'ont fait que se griller eux mêmes! »

Eng “Both these TV commercials are based on the same story : a wife comes back home and surprise her husband in the kitchen in the middle of a hand job... but finally it was a misunderstanding. This was a famous commercial in France a few years ago, so it's hard to understand why they did it again. Homage, or total copycat? Be the judge.”

Fr « Refaire le même spot plus de 10 ans après il fallait oser! Soit les créatifs sont de total branleurs sans éthique, soit c'est un clin d'œil volontaire. Mais à ce niveau d'hommage on appelle ça tout simplement du plagiat. Bref ils ont été pris la main dans le... »

Eng “Both TV commercials are telling the story of a grandfather who learns a foreign language... in order to meet his grand child who's living abroad. The first one was awarded BRONZE at Cannes Lions. Then a few months later the same story pops up again in Morocco... curious, isn't it?”

Fr « La ressemblence est "inouïe". Les deux spots racontent exactement la même histoire : celle d'un grand père qui apprend une langue étrangère... pour aller rencontrer pour la première fois sa petite fille (ou fils) qui vit à l'étranger. Le premier a été primé à Cannes d'un Lion de Bronze... coïncidence? À vous de juger. »
