For an earlier version, see Terry Pratchett’s book “Moving Pictures” (reissued in 2002), which culminates with a giant woman climbing a tower holding a terrified orangutang, while being buzzed by a pair of wizards on a broomstick. The book is a lampoon of Hollywood, but I’m sure someone else has done a role reversal of girl and ape.
